CHARGES PENDING

During the Middeniya investigation, police said they recovered a 9mm pistol, two T-56 magazines, 115 rounds of T-56 ammunition, and a hand grenade linked to Sampath Manamperi at a property in Middeniya, and alleged the items had been supplied to him roughly two months earlier by an organised-crime figure reported as 'Backhoe Saman'. He was remanded in this matter in September 2025. On 11 September 2026, the Tangalle High Court granted him bail: a cash bail of Rs.10,000 and two sureties of Rs.250,000 each.
