The bench reportedly said the Magistrate's finding is not final and that the Court of Appeal will examine it itself; the underlying contempt referral remains pending.

    Rajapaksa's case returned to court on 29 September 2026. Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara told the court that investigations into the alleged Airbus bribery and the related money-laundering allegations had been completed and that a combined indictment would be filed. Bail was refused and Rajapaksa was further remanded until 13 October 2026.

    Krrish Rs. 70 million criminal breach of trust case

    Rajapaksa, named fourth suspect the day before, was produced before the Chief Magistrate. CIABOC's investigating officer said the Indian Government had communicated that funds used in the Krrish transaction were proceeds of money laundering, and that the Commission expects to move toward indictments in this case and the Airbus case. The defence argued a certificate under the new Anti-Corruption Act could not support proceedings for an offence charged under the former law. CIABOC also told the court the Central Bank had invested about Rs. 150 million in the property before the land was made available through the UDA, and that the payment was allegedly made through Nimal Perera, who investigators say acted with Rajapaksa's knowledge and consent. These are submissions, not findings.

    Dutch-donated vehicle fundamental rights case

    The Supreme Court (Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena, Justices Janak de Silva and Arjuna Obeyesekere) delivered judgment in the fundamental-rights petition filed by Chandra Jayaratne, holding that Fowzie's personal use of the Dutch-donated Disaster Management vehicle violated Article 12(1). He was ordered to pay about Rs. 6.6 million (Rs. 1,664,334.93 within one month, the balance within two months) and to publish a public apology with a photograph of the vehicle in three newspapers. This is a non-criminal ruling, not a conviction.

    Trial-stage hearing before Colombo High Court Judge Ravindra Premaratne (co-defendants: Sepalika Saman Kumari and Keerthi Bandara Kotagama, all on bail). The defence raised preliminary objections to the CIABOC charges and the prosecution responded; no evidence was taken. The court fixed its ruling on the objections for 8 Oct 2026.

    Krrish Rs. 70 million criminal breach of trust case

    CIABOC told the Chief Magistrate that Janaki Siriwardena, former Krrish executive director and CEO, had paid Rajapaksa Rs. 70 million in three instalments, from money Krrish had set aside for promoting rugby, to speed up the transfer of Transworks Square land. Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama remanded Siriwardena until 6 October and let CIABOC record a statement from Rajapaksa in prison. Rajapaksa was not yet a suspect.

    The trial continued before Colombo High Court Judge Ravindra Premarathne. Shantha Bandara, former Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development, testified that the seed-maize distribution project had been approved in accordance with the Ministry's procedures. This is witness testimony, not a judicial finding. Further trial was fixed for 12 October 2026.

    Weerawansa was absent when the case was called and the Chief Magistrate issued a warrant for his arrest and production; he arrived shortly afterward, and the court directed his counsel to file a formal motion to recall the warrant on 22 September 2026. He was not arrested or remanded. Prosecution witnesses were also absent, so further evidence was fixed for 19 October 2026.

    Rajapaksa was produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court as the fourth suspect in this money-laundering investigation - see the linked remand event for the outcome. At this hearing, prosecutors told the court that forensic investigators had recovered email communications between Rajapaksa and Airbus officials about the aircraft transaction, that Airbus representatives had given statements to CIABOC and the CID, and that foreign forensic-audit material had been received. These are prosecution submissions, not judicial findings, and Rajapaksa's lawyers disputed the prosecution's payment allegations.

    Further prosecution evidence was heard before Colombo High Court Judge Rashantha Godawela. Former Ceylon Fertilizer Company Chairman Buddhika Ruwan Madihahewa testified that a private company was selected for the Hunupitiya warehouse carpeting work and that Rs. 8,859,708 was paid as an advance against a guarantee; the work was not completed and only Rs. 2,214,921 was recovered from the advance guarantee. A National Audit Office legal officer also gave evidence. The case was adjourned to 5 October 2026.

    Five Section 70 Bribery Act charges were served in the Colombo High Court (Judge Mohamed Mihail); the prosecution listed 13 witnesses and 25 productions. Bail continued on two personal bonds of Rs. 1 million each, the passport was ordered surrendered, and the case was referred to a pre-trial conference (no date reported).

    Investigation into alleged irregularities in the 2006 MiG aircraft procurement

    Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena recalled the case, concerning suspect Udayanga Weeratunga, for 6 January 2027 after investigators said the matter had been referred to the Attorney General for advice. The court also temporarily lifted Weeratunga's foreign travel ban until that date, at his lawyer's request. Rajapaksa was not a party to this hearing.
