    The Colombo High Court (Judge Amal Ranaraja) convicted Hirunika Premachandra on 18 charges, including conspiracy and aiding and abetting, over the December 2015 abduction and wrongful confinement of a youth in Dematagoda. She was sentenced to three years' rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs. 20,000 on each of the 18 charges, with six months' imprisonment in default per charge. Her counsel said she would appeal.
