Rohitha Bogollagama has been indicted. The Bribery Commission filed a case in the Colombo High Court on 25 Feb 2020 alleging that, as Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion, Bogollagama improperly approved or influenced payments of about Rs. 1.17 million for hotel accommodation and Rs. 414,000 in other costs (about Rs. 1.5 million in total) for a BOI investment exhibition in London, contrary to Treasury guidelines, with several other defendants. He was reportedly living abroad as a diplomat and the court later directed that the trial proceed in his absence. On 7 October 2026 CIABOC arrested him when he arrived to give a statement, acting on an open warrant the Colombo High Court had issued in an ongoing case, and he was reportedly to be produced before Colombo High Court No. 11. The reports do not name the case. The arrest on the warrant is a procedural step, not a verdict, and the allegations are unproven. Whether the warrant belongs to this case is inferred, not stated in the reports. No remand, bail or next date had been reported when verified.
