What happened?

Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena granted Rajapaksa bail on Rs. 500,000 cash and two sureties - reported as Rs. 100 million each by Daily Mirror and NewsFirst, and Rs. 30 million each by Newswire - with a foreign-travel ban and a condition not to influence witnesses. The next date was fixed for 14 October 2026.

What changed?

Bail was refused in this proceeding on 29 September; it is now granted. It does not free him: he remains remanded in the CIABOC Airbus bribery case until 13 October and in the CIABOC Krrish bribery case until 6 October. Prosecutors have said a combined Airbus indictment will be filed; none has been filed and the allegations are unproven.
