Regarding Namal Rajapaksa

What happened?

On 29 September 2026 the court refused bail to Namal Rajapaksa and further remanded him until 13 October 2026 in his Airbus-related proceedings. Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara told the court that investigations into the alleged Airbus bribery and the related money-laundering allegations had been completed and that a combined indictment would be filed. Reports differ on which court handled which matter; both Airbus-related remands are reported as running to 13 October.

What changed?

The bail ruling that had been pending was decided against Rajapaksa, and prosecutors have said the investigations are complete. No indictment has yet been filed; the allegations remain unproven. A separate remand to 6 October in the CIABOC Krrish bribery matter was also reported the same day.
