What happened?

On 6 October 2026 Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama, after hearing CIABOC and the defence, further remanded Namal Rajapaksa and first suspect Janaki Siriwardena until 16 October 2026 in the CIABOC Krrish bribery proceeding. The court said the order on their bail applications will be delivered on 16 October.

What changed?

The remand imposed on 29 September, which had run to 6 October, was extended by ten days and bail has not been granted in this proceeding. He remains in remand: separately in the CIABOC Airbus bribery case until 13 October, while holding bail in the CID Airbus money-laundering case (next date 14 October). This proceeding is separate from the Colombo High Court breach-of-trust indictment (trial 16 November). The allegations are unproven and no indictment has been filed in the CIABOC case.
