Murder of MP/presidential advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and three others, shot in Mulleriyawa on 8 Oct 2011 during local government election unrest.

    A three-judge bench of the Colombo High Court convicted Duminda Silva and four others of the 2011 Mulleriyawa murders of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and others, and sentenced them to death. The verdict was a majority decision, with the bench chairman reported to have voted to acquit all the accused.
