What happened?

Parliament's suspended Deputy Secretary-General and Chief of Staff, attorney Chaminda Kularatne, lodged a complaint with CIABOC on 2 February 2026 against Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne, raising several allegations (reported as six by some outlets, eight by others) including the use of three official vehicles despite a circular entitling the Speaker to two, and the claiming of two separate fuel allowances. CIABOC decided to probe the complaint from 8 February 2026, and by 13 September 2026 had collected documents covering personal staff, salary particulars, and vehicle usage and repair records connected to the Speaker's official residence.
