Sri Lankan Politicians Appealing a Conviction
These are Sri Lankan politicians whose criminal conviction is currently being challenged on appeal. An appeal does not undo a conviction - the original verdict and sentence still stand unless and until an appellate court rules otherwise - but it does mean the case remains legally unresolved. Some of these politicians are out on bail while their appeal is heard; others remain in custody. Nadu tracks the underlying conviction, the appeal, and the current custody status as separate, distinct facts, and moves someone off this list only once their appeal is actually decided.

Wijesiri was convicted by the Badulla High Court on charges reported as including wrongful restraint, assault, causing injuries and criminal intimidation.
